The void that is left in my life is indescribable! I had Shakir for 23 years and he was my best friend. We went through so much together, he was my rock.
I got him when he was only 2 years old and the bond between us was so great. He developed the dreaded Laminitis 6 years ago and I tried everything possible to fight it and at one point we really thought we had won the battle!
A year and a half ago I got a rescue mare (Paloma) to keep him company and he fell totally in love with her. He forgot all about his problems and was happily trotting around the paddock and back to his old self.
Unfortunately, Paloma had problems right from the beginning and kept getting colic after colic. During a terrible heatwave in July, Shakir got another very bad bout of Laminitis and Paloma had colic after colic. After the advice of two vets, they told me that they are both in the same state of health and the kindest thing would be to have them both put to sleep.
20th July was the hardest day of my life when I had to say goodbye to my darling Shakir and sweet Paloma.
Thank you Tail End Jewellery for the beautiful jewellery.....they will now not only be together forever in spirit but also as beautiful pendants which I will wear with pride.
