Rocky won't be remembered for his jumping ablility (because he didn't really like jumping), or his flat work (because he found it hard work and boring) or in the showring (he didn't have the best conformation), but he will be remembered and loved always because for 28 years he was safe and reliable and he understood, and he was my best friend.
He knew when my confidence was rock bottom following an accident on another horser and was patient when I mounted and dismounted half a dozen times during a ride with anxiety attacks.
He knew that when I gave him to my 8 year old granddaughter it was because I trusted him 100% and in the 3 years she rode him he never gave me a seconds concern that he wouldn't look after her what ever happened.
On a couple of occasions we were in really sticky situations out hacking and he acted above and beyond what anyone expected.
I will never find another Rocky, I am too old and he was too special, but having part of him round my neck gives me more comfort than I ever imagined. Thank you for giving me this.
