I've wanted a horse since I was 6 years old, but wasn't in a postition to have my own until I was in my 30's. That is when the lovely George came into my life, or Gorgeous George to those who know him.
He is a large 16.3 Shire x TB with a heart of gold. I was planning to do some hacking and schooling on him and just enjoy having a horse, but we ended up doing far more together than I could ever of imagined.
We did show jumping, cross country, hunter trials, dressage and fun rides. We managed to complete a one day event together and we even won some British Dressage points doing affiliated dressage and on one very special occasion we got our names into Horse & Hound Magazine.
George has always looked after other horses if they are nervous out hacking as he is pretty bomb proof, although a fluttering crisp packet can have him on edge! He has also looked after friends and family who have ridden him, some of whom had never sat on a horse before! He is such a special horse, always has his ears pricked and his mouth full of food!
He is such a good friend to me and I will be devastated to lose him when he is put to sleep next week, but sadly his arthritis and other issues with his joints have caught up with him and it is time to say goodbye.
I already have a lovely braided bracelet from Tale End Jewellery and I will treasure it forever.
