"Joey entered our lives when we needed a temporary loan companion but we knew from day one that we didn’t want to hand him back so bought him as soon as we could.
He came as non-ridden but we traced his history and learned that he could be gently hacked. He and my daughter shared a great friendship and he really looked after her wherever they went, they were inseparable.
The plan had been to return Joey to his owner and buy a pony that my daughter could compete on but her connection with Joey was so strong all she wanted was for me to buy Joey so she knew he was hers to keep. I bought him secretly and wrapped his passport up with her name as owner for her Christmas present in 2021. We didn’t see much of her that Christmas Day!
They spent hours just hanging out together. They did lots of ground work and trick learning! He really was a special pony. He was only with us 18 months before we had to say goodbye but he had gone from being passed around to a home where he was loved and cherished.
We had a lovely bracelet made for my daughter, she wanted a keepsake that she could wear for all occasions so that he could always be with her. The bracelet was her Christmas present in 2023 but we couldn’t resist opening it as soon as it arrived and it hasn’t been far from her since and she really feels Joey is always nearby."
