I recently lost my beloved Welsh pony, Brenin, having owned him for 8 years. I wanted a pony since I was 7 and finally got Brenin when I was 40!! He meant the world to me being my first pony. He came to me with some problems, he had been a bit neglected and had been ridden with sharp teeth which I soon rectified, however he still shook his head for 2 years!
I am sure most people would have sent him straight back but I just loved him so much but with a lot of patience and some very scary moments out hacking due to no brakes (thankfully a beautiful long mane to hold onto) we formed such a bond he finally learnt to trust me and I always used to remind him about the circle of trust, especially when "Mr Spooky" was around and we wanted a long rein and our nose on the floor!! He was such a character full of Welsh cheekiness but never nasty.
I ordered the Circle of Friendship necklace to remember our bond and the trust we had.
I returned his ashes back to his breeder in deep Wales under the sight of the Black Mountains and scattered him in the field where he was born next to his living brothers and sisters. Such a lovely place for such a lovely pony.
I miss him so much but will forever be grateful that I had him in my life.
