We owned Bertie Better Do from 8mths old but he was sadly pts for arthritis at age 17yrs Aug 2025.
He was a true horse of a life time a real legend, who turned his hoof to any thing and everything. He was famous for sticking his tongue out and moving like he was on the butterfly swimming team.
He gained just under 200 BD points up to elementary level went to pet plan champs, competed in all RC championships and many other organisations.
We still miss him every day he was the glue that held us and many others together and he really was the full package with a huge heart.
He was also a fantastic horse for my son to grow up with and learn the love of horses - being a must in our lives!
Martha Mae Do was brought as a 3yr lightly broken so we hoped had no baggage and could step into Bertie competitive shoes as he enjoyed a quieter life, but it was not meant to be.
We achieved some amazing results with BD going to four area festivals up to novice level. In October 2025 at the associated champs she won in the part draught class, she competed on county teams, and we won the adult perseverance award through BD for never giving up!
However, we struggled with her health over the last 4 years from sarcoids to ulcers to finding out she had arthritis in her neck and SI along with 5 kissing spines amongst other things.
Sadly at age of 7yrs I couldn’t fix her enough to even retire so I had to sadly say good bye in January 2026.
It was utterly heart breaking to loose my 2 horses fairly close together, no one prepares you for that, but Tail End Jewellery made some amazing keepsakes
We have a keyring for my son, as when he low he would say he would give anything to touch Bertie again , so for me this was a must. He keeps it still in the box by his bed by a photo of Bertie.
And the two shoes, one of each horse, have their tails braided and inlaid into them. These will be placed in the horse box so they can still be part of our adventures with B our new horse and her show name is ‘Wot Will B Will B’ which is very apt on our new adventures!
Many many thanks Tail End Jewellery for doing an amazing job of keeping them with us
