I first met Aurora about 10 years ago. I was in my late fifties and a returner to riding after 40 years and she was a safe set of hooves. She taught countless children to ride, and was willing to take me on as well. She guided me through my lessons and gently and responsively put me through my paces. She gave me confidence in my rusty abilities straight away, helped me to feel at home again in the saddle and we were soon out hacking together. We understood each others moods and if either of us had an off day we made allowances for it.
A year ago she went into semi-retirement, but I was priviledged enough to be allowed to part loan her, and care for and ride her on an even more regular basis. So she continued to teach me, and refresh long forgotten grooming, tack cleaning and poo picking skills! I also took great pleasure in spoiling her by buying personalised tack and rugs for her. And so we were able, until her final illness to take huge pleasure in each others company and our time together.
